Lunch Program

Lunch imageWe have meals brought in by Taher who provides meals to many other schools in the area as well. We are enjoying new selections and fresher meals than we have had in the past.

Menus are sent home once a month with your child and are available online. Please return these to your student's teacher with the selections circled for the month.  Failure to turn in your menu in a timely manner may result in the inability to order lunch for your child in any given month. Your child's teacher will make a copy and send it home with your child in the following few days so that you will know what days your child can eat a school lunch.

You have two payment options: Prepay or Billed. You may pay for the meals by check when your child turns in the menu or you may wait and we will bill you, either way works just fine for us.

If your child doesn't have a lunch, our staff will first call you to let you know to see if you are able to bring one in. Otherwise, our staff will check to see if extras are available.

If you want to order an extra entree at a cost of $2/item, mark the "Extra" box on the menu. Make sure you remember to add that to your total cost. Fruits and vegetables are unlimited so tell your kids to stock up!

Lunch Line

Hello parents! Do you know that Redeemer has a Wellness policy? A Wellness Committee? Well, we do! The Wellness policy is in Mrs. Wiebold’s office. If you would like a copy, please let me know by emailing me at Lunch@redeemerwayzata.org. The Wellness Committee members are Linda Wiebold, Ethan Hoffman (5th grade student), Stefanie Hoffman(Ethan Hoffman’s mom), Mary Jo Jensen (Maddie Jo’s mom and School Board member), and Paula Lindberg (lunch coordinator). The Committee is responsible for measuring the implementation of the Wellness Policy. The Wellness Committee meets twice per school year.

Taher’s chefs (our school lunch caterers) prepare meals that comply with MN Department of Education and USDA for nutritional content. Along with great hot meals for the students, Taher also provides an all-you-can-eat fresh vegetable and fruit bar each day.

Fun science stuff: Stefanie Hoffman shared an interactive display with the students in the lunch room this past Wednesday on how much sugar an average American eats. Be sure to ask your child about this interesting and informative display.

Look for future articles and fun facts in the “Lunch Line” as part of “I Witness News”.
